Most fitness trackers are subject to regular abuse, it’s a wonder they don’t suffer more problems. As a general rule, however, most Fitbits work for years without failure.
Fitbit Won’t Turn On? Here’s How You Can Try To Fix It
However, sometimes you may run into problems when you try to charge your Fitbit. If your Fitbit isn’t charging properly, here are the most common in-game problems and how to fix them.

First of all, it’s worth pointing out that charging the Fitbit can take a long time. If you haven’t worn or charged it in a long time, like several months, leave it plugged in to charge longer than you think.
This is undoubtedly the most common problem that prevents Fitbits from charging properly. Your band gets dirty easily, especially if you wear it while exercising outdoors.
How To Fix A Frozen Fitbit Charge 5
You can use an alcohol toothbrush and then a dry cloth to clean the contacts – they should look gold or bronze when clean.
Maybe you’ve tried charging your Fitbit overnight, only to wake up to a dead fitness band. The problem is often as simple as misaligned charging pins—in other words, the charger isn’t properly connected to your Fitbit.
Double-check that your Fitbit is properly in its charger. You may need to remove it completely and then reconnect it to get the contacts and pins to fit properly.
Believe it or not, a wet Fitbit (including sweat) can cause charging difficulties. Dry thoroughly and try again.

Despite its size, Fitbit is still a computer. And just like any computer, restarting your Fitbit will often fix any issues you’re experiencing.
If your Fitbit battery still has some life left, but it just won’t start charging, there may be a software bug and you need to restart it.
The process of restarting your Fitbit varies by model, but is often as simple as pressing one or more buttons, as explained in this article on restarting your Fitbit Charge HR.
It’s not unheard of for a USB port to short or otherwise shut down. If this happens, the connected charger will not work.
Fitbit Charge 3 Review
The easy fix: Try plugging your Fitbit charger into a different USB port. If you are using a USB port on your Mac or PC, you can try restarting your computer.
If you know the USB port is working, then there might be a problem with the charger. Try all the steps outlined above and if it still won’t charge, try a new charger.

Solved: Fitbit Sense Won’t Charge
When I woke up and my Fitbit just had the Fitbit logo on it, I tried troubleshooting like the ones mentioned here:
After holding the button for 5-10 seconds, the smile appeared, but there was no vibration. Then nothing happened and it got dark. I left it charging for a while and when I came back the logo was there again. I repeated the process but nothing happened.
I then looked at this post (https:///t5/Inspire-Inspire-HR/Inspire-won-t-turn-on/td-p/3488768) to see what traneshaph said worked for him. I deleted the device from my phone hoping to add it back but I can’t. Also, when it clicks to charge, there was no vibration at all.
It’s also been finicky with swiping up and down the screen lately, but I’m not sure if that’s related.

The lights on the back of the device do not flash. Also, I don’t know if this helps, but there is a 001 at the beginning under the Fitbit logo.
The device should be able to charge without any problems. The pins are clear of dirt or debris and the device can be connected as usual. So I don’t think it’s a charging issue.
Fitbit Charge 6 Review: Way Better Than I Expected
Hello! I gave a rather concerned reply on Sunday, but I still haven’t heard back. The problem was not solved either. At this point my Fitbit would have died for sure if it wasn’t plugged in so it could charge. People in health and fitness technology sometimes have mixed opinions about Fitbits, but we think most journalists would agree that they’re generally positive. They get sedentary people to exercise and can help some people take their fitness to the next level. That said, if your Fitbit won’t turn it on, don’t freak out—try these fixes, or at least talk to Google about fixes.
There are many reasons for this, not least because Google sells a variety of Fitbit models, from trackers for kids to full-fledged smartwatches.
We can give some general explanations. It is clear that the battery may be dead. Another is that your charger may be dirty or damaged, resulting in the same low battery issues. Less likely, but still possible, is a software bug. Google has even accidentally patched some Fitbits with previous updates, most recently update 194.91 for the older Charge 5. For this reason, we recommend that you search the Internet for anecdotal reports before installing any new Fitbit software.
It’s best to go through this list in order. We’ve organized it to cover the easier options first, leaving the more serious or complicated options for later. However, if a particular idea seems to make more sense in your situation, feel free to skip ahead.
