Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is the largest mobile industry event in the world. Yes, it took a hit during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, but it never went away, and this year will once again be where some of the world’s biggest phone brands launch new devices.
Unveiling Smartphone Technologies Of 2024
How new? Well, that’s a bit of a difficult question to answer. Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi and Honor usually unveil their flagship devices in China a few months in advance and then launch them internationally at MWC. The silver lining is that this year we expect to see some really great phones from these and other smartphone makers.
Samsung Adds Ai Functions To Newest Galaxy S24 Smartphones
As always, we know there will be some surprises in the show. MWC is a big event that’s primarily about phones, but we’ve often seen cool new tablets, laptops, TVs, and even robot and car prototypes at the show.
Xiaomi’s new flagships, the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro, were launched in China last year. They are powerful devices with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon chip and triple 50-megapixel camera systems on the back. The company is likely to introduce them to a global audience at an event scheduled for February 25.
But the company is likely to launch the Xiaomi 14 Ultra sometime in the future, so we might get more information about the device in Barcelona. Typically, the Ultra is a superior, super-powerful variant of Xiaomi’s latest flagship, often with a different design, but always with a price to match. A rumor we have seen claims that the phone will have a bigger battery and new Leica optics.

Honor usually has a strong presence in Barcelona and this year will be no different. The company has an event planned for February 25 with the theme “Discover the Magic”.
There’s no official word on what we might see there, but the company recently unveiled the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone — the Honor Magic V2 — so we expect it to definitely feature. The company also launched the Magic 6 Pro in January 2024, so it looks like Honor will repeat its lineup in Barcelona, though some sort of surprise announcement is out of the question.
Since there is an event scheduled for February 27 in Barcelona. The company’s signature tagline is “Nothing to see,” making us wonder if this is just a game or if the company, which recently teased the Nothing Phone 2a, will have a really big announcement at MWC. Never a dull day with anything.
The upcoming Nothing 2a is likely to be a cheaper version of the company’s Nothing Phone 2. Yes, the distinctive, semi-transparent styling will likely be there, but the phone will have a mid-range chip inside and only two cameras on the back.

Nothing is known about the launch of new devices during MWC, as it often does so at its own, separate events. But MWC might be our first chance to see the Nothing 2a in person.

With the OnePlus 12 already launched, is there anything left for OnePlus to announce at MWC? The answer is yes! There are rumors that the company is preparing to launch the OnePlus Watch 2, the first smartwatch based on Wear OS. We’ve heard it will have a round, 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip inside. (you may remember it from Google’s Pixel Watch 2) and two hardware buttons. Nothing is certain at this point; we are still waiting for an official announcement from OnePlus.

Samsung is unlikely to have a big product announcement at this year’s MWC, but the company always has a strong presence in Barcelona, and we suspect it will be there again this year.
While we probably won’t see any gadgets from Samsung available right away, the company could showcase some of the technology that will make its way into future products.
Motorola, Lenovo’s smartphone brand, is unlikely to announce anything big at this year’s Barcelona. But like Samsung, Lenovo is always present at Mobile World Congress, and we’ll be waiting for any announcements.
Lenovo loves to have fun at MWC, and it looks like they’re planning to bring some cool devices to the show this year. One of them is a transparent laptop concept, which has already leaked quite extensively online, and we hear there will be more to see from Lenovo this year in Barcelona.

China’s TCL loves to bring futuristic products and concepts to MWC. Historically, this has included foldable phones; at this year’s CES, the company also announced the RayNeo X2 Lite augmented reality glasses. We’re excited to see where the company takes us this year.
Did we mention that MWC is the largest mobile industry event in the world? This means that everyone in the world of smartphones (except Apple, which prefers to do its own thing) will be there. Some companies, such as HMD Global (owner of the Nokia brand), may release new phones; Others, like Google, will likely be available everywhere in Barcelona, although we won’t see any new products.
One thing that always happens in Barcelona is that some company (sometimes a completely unknown company) unexpectedly steals the spotlight from the big players, and we look forward to being surprised again this year.

Mobile World Congress, better known as MWC, kicks off this Monday, and this year’s Barcelona trade show is shaping up to be one of the busiest conventions yet for all things mobile.
With the convergence of artificial intelligence and personal computing devices, including smartphones, headsets, and wearables, many new and exciting products will be available, even if the list includes concepts and gadgets that offer more promise than actual practicality. it can never cross the Atlantic and enter the US market. What happened to 5G? What is 6G? We will have answers to these questions.
The week-long event runs from February 26 to February 29, with keynotes and launch events at the Fira De Barcelona convention center. Companies like Xiaomi, Honor and Nokia also announced their product launch plans for Sunday, a day before MWC officially kicks off.
Smartphones Set To Steal The Show At Mobile World Congress
As a tip, I’ve rounded up three of the biggest things to get excited about at this year’s mobile extravaganza, even if you’re not in Europe and/or don’t consider yourself a bleeding-edge devotee.
Two things are certain for every MWC: Concept phones and tapas. While it’s hard to beat a plate shell, I have a feeling I’ll be more drawn to the futuristic, mind-bending phones hitting the showroom floor this year. Last February, Motorola unveiled a rolling phone concept that I still believe should be called the “Moto-rolla,” while OnePlus showed off the shiny, ice-blue OnePlus 11 Concept. Both devices demonstrated the potential of our most personal computing devices when manufacturers push the envelope, even if the ideas took years to fully materialize.
After MWC, it hit the global market, including Xiaomi’s 14 Ultra, the company’s top-of-the-line phone with a rumored triple 50-megapixel camera setup, titanium build, and the latest Qualcomm processor. According to Canalys, Xiaomi ranked third in terms of global smartphone market share in Q4 2023, after Apple and Samsung. Here’s hoping it can carry that momentum with the flagship release of the year, and perhaps give the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra a run for their money.
Huawei’s former sub-brand Honor will also launch a phone on February 25 in Barcelona. While not as flashy as the foldable Magic V2 that the company introduced last month, the Magic 6 Pro carries a 180MP periscope. a camera capable of capturing some of the most detailed and vivid portrait photos ever seen on a smartphone.
